The World Basketball Championship is the most important and the most prestigious basketball event. It is played since 1950 amongst the best national teams and basketball players from five continents.
FIBA, as the world governing body for basketball, elects one of the best basketball nations every four years in the world to host the greatest basketball Event. Holding a world class resume in hosting international competitions, and succeeding in every category on the court with its significant rise in world basketball since 90’s, Turkey earned the rights to host the respectable Event in 2010.
16th FIBA World Championship will be held between 28 August – 12 September 2010 in Turkey with the participation of best 24 national teams and 288 basketball stars in the cities of Ankara, Antalya, Istanbul, and Izmir.
